Seafood Processing
Seafood processing is a key industry in our region, employing around 2,000 people. It is linked to our fishing and aquaculture industries with our region being a major producer of hoki, salmon and green lipped mussels. These products are processed and packed ready for market.
Locations
In Nelson/Tasman fish and shellfish processing facilities are located at the Port Nelson, Tahunanui and Motueka. Havelock and Blenheim are the closest towns to the mussel farms for processing in Marlborough. On the West Coast seafood is processed in Westport and Greymouth.
